Responsibilities
Octave is seeking a marketing leader to make a significant impact in driving growth and brand awareness globally in the defense sector, focusing on geospatial, public safety and physical security technologies. This is a unique opportunity to join our marketing team, focusing on developing and implementing targeted marketing strategies for agencies and system integrators to grow their accounts through defense-specific marketing. This includes brand awareness, developing strategic partner relationships, lead generation and demand generation. This requires deep industry knowledge, creative out-of-the-box thinking, and strategic thinking and close collaboration with sales, product, and business development teams to navigate unique procurement landscapes. Key responsibilities include conducting market research, developing one-on-one and account-based marketing programs, and executing measurable revenue-influencing campaigns in a security-sensitive environment.
This individual will report to the SVP of Marketing within our division, with a dotted line to the VP of Geospatial business, offering opportunities for professional growth and development within a global marketing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategy & Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive marketing plans for defense audiences, incorporating market, competitor, and trend analysis.
- Content & Messaging: Segment system integrator and defense agency audiences to create compelling, clear, and technically accurate content (positioning, messaging, case studies).
- Demand Generation: Design and manage campaigns (email, digital, paid media, events) to generate qualified leads and ROI.
- Account-Based Marketing (Account-based Marketing): Lead Account-based Marketing initiatives, defining personas and developing a communication cadence for named accounts and customer journeys.
- Collaboration: Work closely across languages and regions to understand sales opportunities and the correct positioning and timing of product and solution messages.
- Market Expertise: Understand defense industry nuances, procurement processes, and political/institutional structures.
- Performance Tracking: Define KPIs, track campaign performance, and report on results for forecasting and optimization.
Education / Qualifications
- BA/BS in marketing, communication, public relations, or equivalent, Master’s/MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of proven marketing and leadership experience and success in the defense industry and its unique complexities, working with a government agency, system integrator or other technology provider.
- Thorough understanding of marketing channels and tactics targeted toward aligned industries and personas.
- Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional and across regions, time zones and languages. Must be highly driven in both remote and office environments.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strategic thinking, analytical skills, and creativity.
- Highly desirable skills: including MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, marketing software/platforms (Pardot or other marketing automation and Demandbase or other Account-based Marketing) and Salesforce.
- Always curious and open to learn new marketing programs or initiatives to adopt
- Well-organized and meticulous, able to manage multiple tasks across markets with guidance and support
- Commercial awareness partnered with a creative mind.
- Strong command of English: spoken, comprehension and written is required. Fluency in German, Spanish and/or Dutch is a plus.
