Summary

Dive into the heart of innovation with Octave BricsCAD, a leading force in cutting edge CAD software solutions. We're on the lookout for a seasoned Principal C++ Engineer to start in our Qt Development Team. This team is responsible for the components and architecture of the UI layer of our CAD program. 

A developer’s job at Octave BricsCAD is very diverse. From a principal software engineer we expect software architecture as well as development and mentoring of more junior colleagues. We have an open software review culture, with more experienced developers frequently interfacing with peers across the Bricsys product lines.

Responsibilities

• Be an essential pillar in the architecture of our Qt code base. You help oversee the architecture is 
sound and addresses the needs of the other software developers in the company. 
• You do your fair share of code reviewing to ensure consistency across our codebase. 
• You promote clean code principles and design patterns. 
• You mentor the less experienced members of the team and are always at the ready to share your 
expertise while leaving enough room for them to find their own path. 
• Be an active part of the Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, 
and retrospectives. 
• Ability to realistically plan your own work and work independently and reliably.

Technical Expertise

• 5+ years professional experience with C++ (knowledge of Qt/QML is a plus) 
• Be able to convert technical requirements to a fully functional end product 
• A deep passion for code quality (experience with TDD is a plus) 
• Ability to dive into legacy code and make it your own 
• Contribute with technical expertise to the various tasks that are performed by the other team 
members 
• Collaborate with team members to ensure that software delivery processes are streamlined, 
efficient, and aligned with industry best practices. 
• Be hands-on, producing both detailed technical work and high-level architectural designs.

Qualifications

• Team-first mindset and collaboration. 
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. 
• Extensive experience in C++ programming (or another object-oriented language). 
• Proficiency in Qt/QML or a willingness to learn all the intricacies of building a UI layer. 
• Strong grasp of Agile methodologies, with a track record of contributing to Agile/Scrum teams. 
• Proven problem-solving skills and a knack for innovative solutions. 
• Prior experience in fast-paced software development environments.
