Role Overview

The HR generalist is an experienced professional who typically has a deeper understanding of HR processes, policies and employment law. They should be able to provide solid support and advice to employees through day-to-day processes within the HR department, under limited supervision. This role is a 12-month Maternity Cover position within the HR Operations team in Swindon reporting to the Senior Manager, Human Resources.

Key Responsibilities

•    Responds timely to initial employee queries related to HR policies, benefits, and general HR information for UK and Ireland.
•    Provides payroll support in collating and checking monthly input; in month salary changes, variable pay, pension changes, new starters and leavers etc. by defined cut-off dates. 
•    Maintains employee data in HRIS while ensuring accuracy and completeness of entries.
•    Provides clear, accurate, and timely information, escalating more complex issues to the HR Manager as appropriate.
•    Assists in maintaining organized HR records, personnel files, and relevant documentation.
•    Supports the onboarding process by preparing new hire paperwork, coordinating onboarding activities, and assisting new employees with required information.
•    Supports offboarding activities, including preparing exit documentation and completing required system updates.
•    Assists employees with benefit enrollment, changes, and general benefit inquiries.
•    Provides employees with information and guidance on HR policies and procedures.
•    Assists in supporting audit sample requests.
•    Ensures compliance with all relevant employment laws, regulations, and industry standards.
•    Participate in new HR initiatives and projects as necessary.

Education / Qualifications

Competencies:

•    Customer Service: Ability to deliver professional and supportive assistance to employees. 
•    Strong attention to Detail: Ensures accuracy in data entry and documentation. 
•    Strong knowledge of HR processes: Both in principle and best practice whilst adhering to local employment law. 
•    Problem Solving: Applies logical thinking to identify issues and propose solutions. 
•    Teamwork & Collaboration: Works effectively within a team and across functions. 
•    Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing priorities
•    Communication: Excellent communication Skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and clearly in both written and verbal formats. 
•    Time Management: Efficiently manages tasks and meets required deadlines.

Qualifications:

•    Education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. 
•    3 or more years’ experience in a HR generalist level role or similar. 
•    Strong knowledge and understanding of HR processes and HR documentation.
•    Proficiency in using HRIS systems.
•    Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (e.g., Outlook, Excel, Word). 
•    Strong customer service mindset and eagerness to support.
