Job Description
Financial Analyst
Job Location (Short):  Hyderabad, India
Workplace Type:  Hybrid
Req Id:  3013

Responsibilities

Octave Intelligence is seeking a detail-oriented and analytically driven Financial Analyst, Revenue Data & Analytics to join its Finance team. This role is critical to the integrity of Octave's recurring revenue reporting infrastructure as the Company builds its reporting capabilities as a newly independent, publicly listed industrial software company.

The successful candidate will be responsible for consolidating ARR, churn, and customer master data from multiple source systems into a single, authoritative monthly dataset. This individual will work cross-functionally with Sales Operations, FP&A, Revenue Accounting, and Business Technology to improve data quality, enforce consistent definitions, and produce the clean, reconciled data that underpins external ARR disclosures, investor reporting, and internal performance management.

Data Consolidation & Monthly Close

  • Own the end-to-end monthly ARR and churn consolidation process, aggregating data from CRM (e.g., Salesforce), ERP (e.g., Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, etc), and contract management systems into a single master dataset.
  • Reconcile ARR movements — new bookings, expansions, contractions, churn, and renewals — across source systems and resolve discrepancies prior to monthly reporting close.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the consolidated revenue database, ensuring it is complete, consistent, and audit-ready on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare reconciliation bridges between bookings data, recognized revenue, and reported ARR / subscription metrics.

Master Data Quality & Cleanup

  • Identify and remediate data quality issues across customer master records, including duplicate accounts, inconsistent contract terms, misclassified revenue streams (SaaS vs. subscription vs. maintenance), and incomplete renewal dates.
  • Develop and enforce data governance standards for ARR and churn-related fields in partnership with Sales Operations and Business Technology.
  • Build and maintain automated data quality checks and exception reports to flag anomalies prior to the monthly consolidation cycle.
  • Document data definitions, field mappings, and transformation logic in a central data dictionary to support auditability and SOX compliance.

ARR & Churn Analytics

  • Produce monthly ARR waterfall analyses (beginning ARR, new, expansion, contraction, churn, ending ARR) segmented by product line, geography, and customer cohort.
  • Calculate and report gross revenue retention (GRR), net revenue retention (NRR), logo churn, and related KPIs on a monthly basis.
  • Investigate and explain material variances in ARR and churn metrics versus prior periods and budget.
  • Support quarterly investor reporting, earnings preparation, and ad hoc analyses requested by FP&A, IR, or executive leadership.

Process & Controls

  • Design and document scalable, repeatable processes for the monthly ARR close and data consolidation workflow.
  • Support the Finance team's SOX/ICFR documentation requirements related to ARR reporting and revenue data controls.
  • Participate in system improvement initiatives, including ERP and CRM enhancements that affect revenue data flows.
  • Assist with preparation of supporting schedules for external auditors and SEC filing teams as needed.

Education / Qualifications

Required

  • 1–3 years of experience in financial analysis, revenue operations, data analytics, or a related function within a software or technology company.
  • Demonstrated experience working with large, multi-source datasets and performing data reconciliation and cleanup.
  • Proficiency in Excel (advanced); experience with SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or comparable data tools strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with SaaS / subscription / maintenance revenue models and ARR-based metrics (GRR, NRR, churn).
  • High attention to detail and a systematic approach to identifying and resolving data inconsistencies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate data findings into clear, actionable summaries for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field.

Preferred

  • Experience in a public company environment with exposure to SEC reporting, investor relations, or SOX compliance.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce CRM and SAP or similar ERP platforms.
  • Experience building or maintaining a recurring revenue database or ARR reporting model.
  • Understanding of ASC 606 revenue recognition principles as they apply to software contracts.
