Job Overview

At Octave, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our APAC Finance team. This role is responsible for managing the financial operations of a dynamic project portfolio, ensuring accurate project accounting, revenue recognition, reporting, and intercompany accounting processes.

As the Project Accountant, you will be a trusted business partner. You will work closely with project managers, service delivery teams, and regional finance stakeholders to provide financial insights, support decision-making, and maintain compliance with accounting standards and corporate policies. Responsibilities

Project Accounting & Revenue Management

  • Manage end-to-end project accounting activities, including project setup, timesheet posting, cost allocation, and monthly revenue recognition.
  • Prepare project billings in accordance with contractual requirements, ensuring all supporting documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Partner with project and service delivery teams to ensure accurate project costing, forecasting, and revenue recognition.
  • Analyse project performance and investigate financial variances, providing recommendations where required.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare monthly Project Profit & Loss (P&L) reports, backlog reports, audit schedules, and quarterly financial analyses.
  • Deliver meaningful financial insights to support business performance and strategic decision-making.
  • Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.

Intercompany Accounting

  • Process and code project-related and non-project-related intercompany invoices.
  • Collaborate with regional and global finance teams to ensure consistency and accuracy of intercompany transactions.
  • Perform intercompany reconciliations and proactively resolve discrepancies.

Compliance & Controls

  • Support external audits and tax compliance activities through the preparation of supporting schedules and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, financial controls, and reporting deadlines.
  • Contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency, compliance, and reporting accuracy.
  • Support ad hoc finance projects and business initiatives as required.

Education / Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • Professional accounting qualification (CPA, CA, or equivalent), or working towards certification.
  • Proven experience in a Senior Accountant, Project Accountant, or similar finance role.
  • Strong understanding of project accounting, revenue recognition, financial reporting, and reconciliations.
  • Experience preparing management reports, financial analysis, and month-end close activities.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

  • Experience within professional services, technology, consulting, engineering, or project-based organisations.
  • Exposure to global finance operations and intercompany accounting.
  • Understanding of audit and tax compliance requirements.
