Responsibilities

Octave seeks an Instructional Design intern for our Public Safety software offerings. This position will work as part of a team responsible for developing online training courses to support our technical software products. Your job will be to help develop engaging experiential learning for users of the software we design. Responsibilities include:

• Work with established instructional designers to create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances comprehension and knowledge retention
• Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc.)
• Apply ADDIE principles to all stages of the instructional design process
• Write, edit, and evaluate both new and existing content
• Learn to use and administer our software products, so that you can teach others how to use them

Education / Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or degree in progress) in instructional design, education, technical writing, English, communications, or similar area
• Some knowledge of learning theories and instructional design
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of products
• Experience with Articulate’s Rise and Storyline (preferred)
• Experience with creating screencasts (preferred)
• Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical colleagues and clients
• An interest in technology and a strong ability to learn how to use software programs
