Responsibilities

The Octave User Experience (UX) team supports our customers in making the world a safer place. If you enjoy working with distributed, multi-disciplinary teams to design and develop innovative solutions that support users solving challenging problems in real time, you have come to the right place. The UX team works directly with customers in the security and public safety industries. Because our customers are the first responders in times of emergency, designing and developing tools that make them successful is exciting and meaningful work.

 

The UX team includes such roles as visual and interaction designers, user researchers, UX Quality Assurance (QA), and a UX Editor working across many product portfolios. We are looking for talented professionals to plan and execute complex assignments in the development of global products and solutions, with an emphasis on application usability by a large number of office and mobile users.

 

  • Support design and development of user experience for software products from conception to delivery
  • Collaborate with designers, user researchers, and software developers to ensure the delivery of excellent user experiences
  • Support the UX team in the development of UI wireframes, icons, and other assets
  • Support the UX team in the development of user models, including journey maps and workflows
  • Work with UX designers and researchers to organize, conduct, and evaluate prototype software design through usability testing
  • Research and evaluate emerging trends in interaction and interface design and match those to users’ needs
  • Ensure that design guidelines are maintained and shared with appropriate stakeholders to guide product design and development

Education / Qualifications

  • Pursuing a B.S. or B.A. in Interaction Design, HCI, or design-related field
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work effectively with customers and users
  • Proficiency sketching and communicating visually in multiple art media, such as paper/pencil, whiteboards, etc.
  • Collaborate with designers and prototypers to design and execute usability tests
  • Ability to take direction and process constructive criticism
  • Preferred: Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and/or Figma
