Responsibilities
Lead Price & Value Changes from Idea to Adoption
- Translate pricing or value strategy into concrete change plans for Octave's industrial software products (what's changing, for whom, when, and why)
- Coordinate timelines, owners, and dependencies across policy updates, CPQ/ERP system changes, training, and customer communications
- Manage the SaaS transition complexities: perpetual-to-subscription migrations, hybrid licensing models, and maintenance/support bundling
- Anticipate and manage internal resistance—pricing changes in enterprise industrial software are as much a "people transition" as a technical update
- Build value propositions and "why the price" talk tracks tailored to Octave's target verticals: oil & gas (upstream/midstream/downstream), chemicals, power generation, mining, and more
- Quantify economic value for customers: project cost savings, productivity gains from digital twins, risk reduction, and sustainability outcomes
- Equip Sales with value messaging, objection handling, and negotiation guidance tied to new pricing across the entire product portfolio
- Align Marketing and Product on packaging, differentiation, and how value is communicated externally—especially for AI/analytics capabilities
- Own key mechanisms: pricing approvals, discount policies, and exception processes
- Maintain price lists, rate cards, and price corridors for both perpetual licenses and SaaS subscriptions across geographies
Protect value in negotiations with large EPCs, owner-operators, and global accounts (enterprise deals can be $1M+ multi-year commitments)
- Coordinate Stakeholder Alignment Across the BusinessAct as "ambassador" across functions—reconciling inputs from Sales, Finance, Product, Operations, and regional leadership
- Conduct stakeholder mapping and "what's in it for me" alignment so changes stick beyond the pricing team
- Partner closely with the CRO organization and regional sales leaders to ensure pricing changes support revenue targets and customer retention
- Partner with RevOps/IT to update CPQ, ERP, CRM pricing logic, discount controls, and approval workflows
- Maintain pricing databases and ensure field tools reflect the current price architecture (including SaaS vs. perpetual vs. hybrid models)
- Support system requirements for complex industrial deals: multi-year contracts, usage-based components, maintenance renewals, and professional services bundling
- Interpret and iterate on KPIs and results: price realization, margin/profitability by product line, win/loss, discount leakage, compliance to policy, and ARR growth from SaaS conversions
- Run post-launch "pricing health checks," gather field feedback, and refine thresholds, messaging, or process
- Report pricing performance to leadership as Octave prepares for standalone public company status
