Summary
Octave are seeking a commercially minded, confident, and engaging Legal Counsel to join our fast-paced international eneterpise software business, supporting a diverse and growing region across EMEA. This is a highly visible role where you will act as a trusted advisor and true business partner—particularly to Sales—working at the heart of complex, cross-border deal-making. You will spend the majority of your time negotiating high-value technology contracts, including public tenders, SaaS agreements, and strategic partnerships, while ensuring strong IP protection and pragmatic risk management. We are looking for a native French speaker with excellent English who thrives in a collaborative, high-energy environment, enjoys working alongside driven sales teams, and brings a solution-oriented, open-minded approach to legal challenges.
Responsibilities
• Assisting the Director of Regional Contracts to draft, revise and negotiate software licence agreements, SaaS agreements, sale agreements, services and maintenance agreements, framework agreements, reseller/partnership/distribution agreements, sub-contractor agreements, non-disclosure agreements and other agreements related to the provision of software and services.
• Assisting with reviewing and advising on tender documents, project proposals and statements of work, advising project teams on the interpretation of contracts, and resolving disputes.
• Assisting on public tenders, being knowledgeable about public contracting in EU.
• Knowledge in IP and IT legal matters.
• Assisting with the updating of standard terms and conditions and other templates and maintaining document management systems.
• Assisting the Director of Regional Contracts to develop and implement legal and compliance training for stakeholders.
• Ensuring customer contracts comply with corporate policies and maintaining acceptable risk standards.
• Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, customers, vendors, and/or service providers to expedite contract negotiations.
• Staying up to date with legal and industry developments.
• Assisting with, and engaging with external counsel on, corporate, employment and property matters for regional entities.
• Being able to work in cross-border transactions.
• Assisting with maintenance and renewals of company insurance.
• Providing counsel to sales and management
• Working on lease agreements and other documents for every office in the region.

Qualifications
• Qualified jurist/attorney specialising in commercial law (preferably under the laws of France) with 8-10 years post qualification experience, however, applications from any level of post qualification experience will be considered.
• Strong in-house commercial experience within the technology industry.
• Strong written and oral skills in English and French. Other languages would be a plus.
• Demonstrated experience in interpreting complex regional and global contracts.
• Ability to produce consistently high-quality work with a strong attention to detail.
• Excellent time management and administration skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritise.
• Strong PC skills, including MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at various levels, including sales representatives, project and support managers, suppliers and senior management.
• Capable of working efficiently under pressure.
• Commercial, solution-oriented, enthusiastic and driven.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
• Self-sufficient and proactive with strong business acumen.
