Responsibilities
Octave is seeking a Senior IT Engineer to join our United States team (Huntsville, AL area preferred). The Senior IT Engineer is responsible for maintaining and optimizing the organization’s IT infrastructure. Key responsibilities include managing virtualization environments (VMware and Hyper-V), overseeing Windows patch management, and administering hosting platforms such as Netlify and Vercel. The role also encompasses leveraging analytics tools like Clarity and administering CMS platforms such as Contentful. This position is integral to ensuring secure, efficient, and scalable IT operations.
- Responsible for managing and administering the Hyper-V virtualization stack for production-critical systems.
- Key duties include provisioning virtual machines, administering access controls, monitoring performance metrics, and performing ongoing administrative tasks to ensure optimal cluster performance.
- Responsibilities also include implementing website hardening measures and conducting regular security checks. Familiarity with Git workflows, including committing and branching, is essential for these tasks.
- Install operating systems and manage hardware components in a data center environment.
- Perform disk replacements, access iDrac for system management, and diagnose hardware issues to prevent downtime.
- Manage Windows Update WSUS server for tracking patches and fixes. This involves keeping the WSUS server up to date with latest Microsoft patches, scheduling and informing stakeholders about required patches, monitoring machines that need latest updates.
Education / Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in IT or related field (Master's preferred).
- Certifications such as CompTIA, Azure, or MCITP.
- Minimum 2-3 years experience in IT support and engineering roles.
- Professional experience in creating, updating, and administering websites hosted on Netlify or Vercel.
- Proficiency in Networking, Security, Windows Server, and Microsoft technologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills for technical issues, with the ability to communicate solutions clearly.
- Experience with DELL Unity SAN solutions is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge and experience of Analytics tools like Calrity and Snowflakes is preferred
- Huntsville, AL area (or driving distance) preferred
