Responsibilities

Octave is hiring a Technical Product Manager to own product and technical strategy for Facets P&ID (previously Smart P&ID). This role drives roadmap execution, defines requirements, partners closely with engineering, understands customer workflows, and helps build cloud-native engineering solutions for the industrial design and engineering domain.


The Technical Product Manager owns product-level Jobs-To-Be-Done from a domain perspective, understands personas and journeys across the product, and stays fluent in product telemetry — usage, journey progression, job outcomes, product feedback and business outcomes.

 

Strategic Ownership & Decision-Making

  • Co-accountable with the product PM for what gets built and the outcomes it drives at product level
  • Own and prioritize product backlog
  • Break down product strategy into user stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria
  • Provide technical and domain input to the product roadmap.


Collaboration & Interaction

  • Own product-level customer relationships, including leading customer-facing technical engagements
  • Conduct workshops, demos, and user research
  • Partner with the product PM to define a clear product vision and roadmap
  • Partner with Engineering and UX for product implementation.


Domain Expertise

  • P&ID Engineering
  • Process Engineering workflows
  • FEED and Detailed Engineering
  • Brownfield / Greenfield projects
  • EPC/Owner Operator workflows and their pain points
  • Exposure to related disciplines — Process simulation, Instrumentation, Electrical or Plant Operations.


SaaS & Technical Skills

  • Cloud-native SaaS applications
  • Web APIs
  • SQL / Oracle
  • Understands the product’s technology stack across modules
  • Preferred (not required): Exposure to commercially available 2D drafting systems (e.g. Aveva P&ID, AutoCAD P&ID, COMOS etc.) 


AI & Product Analytics

  • Utilizing Product telemetry and User analytics to guide prioritization and product improvements
  • Adopting AI workflows for product-level TPM work
  • AI-assisted end-user workflows
  • Generative AI applications in enterprise software.

Education / Qualifications

  • Bachelor's/Master’s Degree in one of the following disciplines:
    •    Chemical Engineering
    •    Mechanical Engineering
    •    Instrumentation Engineering
  • Should have 9-15 years of relevant work experiene from EPC, OO & Plant Operations
