Responsibilities

The Defense Software Sales Manager – Turkey is responsible for driving sustainable revenue growth across Turkey’s defense, security, intelligence, and government sectors through the sale of mission-critical software platforms, with a strong focus on geospatial, situational awareness, and operational intelligence solutions, including the Octave portfolio. The role combines country ownership with strong international coordination, operating in a quota-driven, long-cycle sales environment focused on complex defense and government programs involving system integrators, government authorities, and NATO-related stakeholders. In addition to commercial responsibilities, the role contributes to the development, competitiveness, and global integration of the Turkish defense ecosystem, actively bridging local programs with regional and international initiatives, particularly in the geospatial and defense software domain.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Sales Ownership & Strategy

  • Own and deliver sales quotas, annual targets, and pipeline commitments for Turkey. 
  • Contribute to and execute the country-level sales strategy, aligned with regional growth plays, in close cooperation with the Country Manager and regional leadership. 
  • Drive revenue growth while supporting the long-term sustainability and global positioning of the Turkish defense ecosystem, with a particular emphasis on geospatial and operational intelligence capabilities.

Customer Engagement & Opportunity Management 

  • Actively manage complex, multi-year sales cycles with; Turkish Armed Forces, government, and security agencies, Defense primes and system integrators, NATO-related programs and stakeholders
  • Maintain direct end-user ownership and customer strategy even in partner-led engagements, ensuring control over qualification, positioning, and opportunity management.
  • Serve as the central point of contact for key customers and strategic partners in the defense, intelligence, and geospatial communities, ensuring long-term trust and relationship continuity

 

Solution, Portfolio & Geospatial Selling 

  • Drive solution-based selling of mission-critical software platforms across defense, security, and government use cases, rather than transactional license sales. 
  • Position and sell geospatial software, situational awareness platforms, and operational intelligence solutions as integral components of broader defense and security architectures.
  • Position and sell API / SDK-enabled solutions and integration-centric platforms in cooperation with application engineers and solution architects.
  • Identify customer needs and co-develop tailored, high-value solutions, leveraging geospatial data, sensor information, operational context, and decision-support technologies.

 

Bid Management & Market Representation 

  • Lead and coordinate responses to RFI / RFP / RFQ processes, ensuring alignment across commercial, technical, legal, and compliance dimensions.
  • Forecast pipeline, bookings, and revenue accurately using CRM tools.
  • Represent Octave and the company at defense and geospatial exhibitions, trade fairs, customer briefings, professional associations, and security-restricted environments.

 

International & Ecosystem Collaboration 

  • Work closely with international sales, product, and engineering teams, contributing Turkish and geospatial-domain insight to global programs and leveraging international best practices locally.
  • Promote collaboration between Turkish defense stakeholders and global or NATO-aligned initiatives where applicable, especially in geospatial intelligence, C2, ISR, and situational awareness domains. 

 

Education / Qualifications

Sales & Commercial Experience

  • Proven experience managing sales quotas, revenue targets, and forecast discipline.
  • 5–10 years of experience in defense, security, intelligence, or government software sales.
  • Demonstrated success in long-cycle, program-based sales environments involving public sector stakeholders.
  • Track record in selling complex, explainable software platforms, preferably including geospatial technologies, API / SDK-enabled, and integration-centric solutions.

 

Technical, Geospatial & Domain Knowledge 

  • Strong understanding of geospatial technologies and data, and their application in defense and security contexts.
  • Solid understanding of defense and security software domains such as: Command & Control (C2), ISR, situational awareness, Geospatial information systems (GIS) and location intelligence, Mission planning, simulation, and operational intelligence
  • Ability to translate geospatial and technical capabilities into clear business and operational value in collaboration with presales and engineering teams.

 

Network, Working Style & Personal Profile 

  • Established or developing network within the Turkish defense, security, intelligence, and geospatial ecosystem. 
  • Strong capability to maintain and expand trusted customer, partner, and integrator relationships. • High degree of autonomy, resilience, and ownership, suited to a country-level role. • Strong communication, negotiation, and deal-closing skills.

 

Location & Work Model

  • Hybrid work model.
  • Regular physical presence required in Ankara for engagements with customers, partners, and authorities.

 

Security & Eligibility 

  • Eligibility for Turkish local security clearance.
  • Eligibility for NATO-related clearance (existing clearance is a strong advantage).
  • Ability to operate in security-sensitive and restricted environments.

 

Language Requirements

  • Fluent Turkish and English (written and spoken)
